Terms & Conditions
Greener Camping Club membership
To comply with countryside planning policy, we operate as a Greener Camping Club members-only campsite. When you book your stay, you will be enrolled as a member of the Club. Membership costs £12 for the camping season and gives you access to over 180 of the greenest campsites in the UK. Since its foundation in 2015, every year at least 10% of Club membership revenue is invested in environmental projects at its campsites. This includes tree and hedge planting, wildflower meadow creation and the provision of nesting boxes and bat boxes.
Bookings & Payment
We request a 50% conditionally-refundable deposit when booking a camping pitch or safari tent. Receipt of the deposit secures your booking. Please note that the deposit includes full payment for your Greener Camping Club membership. Bookings are held provisionally for up to seven days, after which, if we have not received your deposit, the dates will be released. The balance is required six weeks prior to your arrival date. If we do not receive your balance by this time, we will assume you have cancelled your holiday and release the dates. For short lead-time bookings - ie. those booked less than six weeks before arrival, the full amount will be requested to secure the booking.
By making a booking and paying your deposit you signify your agreement with our refund policy.
On or after the intended arrival date, no refunds will be made. Similarly, no credit or refund is available for any unused services provided in the cost of your holiday e.g. if you choose to depart early.
Cancellation by You
If you cancel your holiday six weeks or more before your arrival date we will refund your deposit less a 20% admin fee and the Greener Camping Club membership fee (which is not refundable). If you cancel your holiday less than six weeks before your arrival date and we are able to re-let your holiday for the dates you have booked, we will refund your deposit and balance, less a 20% admin fee. The Greener Camping Club membership fee is not refundable. In the event that we are unable re-let your dates, no refund will be made. Bookings are not transferable to another family without our prior agreement in writing. If you are concerned about the prospect of cancellation, please take out holiday insurance.
Cancellation by Us
Press Bars Camping reserves the right to cancel a camping or safari tent holiday at short notice if we are unable to provide safe accommodation or camping environment, due to extreme weather conditions, ill health, fire, flooding or any other extenuating circumstances beyond our control. Under such circumstances, your full payment will be returned to you. Press Bars Camping cannot accept liability or responsibility for any loss, including consequential loss, caused by cancellation. The Greener Camping Club membership fee is not refundable
Arrival & Departure Times
Arrival time is between 3.30pm and 8.30pm. Please call us if you think you may arrive later so that we can make suitable arrangements.
On departure day, please vacate your camping pitch or safari tent by 12 noon.
Cars & Campervans
The speed limit on site is 5 mph. We are only a small site & therefore ask that only 1 vehicle be parked per pitch. Any additional vehicles can be parked in front of the main house. A reminder that all vehicles are left at the owners risk.
When driving on the campsite, please remain on the mown grass 'road' & refrain from driving/parking on any scrub/wildflower/long grass areas, as these have been cultivated to attract & give home to insects & wildlife.
If, after prolonged rainfall, the ground is deemed too wet to drive on, you may be asked to park on harder ground away from your pitch/accommodation. In this scenario, assistance will be provided to transport camping gear/luggage to your pitch/accommodation on arrival & departure.
Children & Risks
There are many opportunities for play and adventure on our little farm. Our aim is for children to have a truly enriching experience of space and freedom. But because Press Bars Camping is a working homestead, there are contingent risks to be aware of. We allow (in fact we encourage) campfires & we can supply you with kindling & firewood. The hedgerows, willow copses & tall grass areas are perfect for den based games but please make your children aware that brambles & nettles also grow in these areas. I endeavor to not let site maintenance impact your stay but during busy periods, this is sometimes unavoidable & mowers/strimmers may be in operation. Areas of the campsite may have tripping hazards such as fallen branches, badger or mole hills in them. There is a small, shallow uncovered pond near the campsite entrance, as well as a much larger & deeper pond in a fenced off restricted access area. These risks are small and should be self-evident - but if you are not clear, please ask! Press Bars Camping accepts no responsibility for injury incurred on site. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children on site at all times.
Restricted Access Areas
Press Bars Camping exists within a working homestead, certain areas will have no or restricted access. This maybe because they contain livestock, private property or an area of the farm which is deemed potentially dangerous. These areas will have clear signage. Any unauthorised access by guests or visitors will result in being asked to leave site with no refund. We are more than happy to have a conversation about access to some of these areas, but it should be understood that this will be at our disgretion & at your own risk.
Consideration for Others
This is a small campsite for the enjoyment of nature & the outdoors. We ask that any Bluetooth speakers or any other amplified music be kept at a reasonable volume level and only quiet talking is permitted after 10.30pm. Noisy visitors who persistently disturb other guests will be asked politely to leave, without refund. If you are out for the night and arrive back late, please leave your car in the carpark & try not to disturb other guests.(a torch will be useful to help you find your way to your tent).
Recycling & Rubbish
A condition of camping here is that you recycle your rubbish. That means separating glass, cans, plastic, paper, cardboard etc. and placing them in the special bins provided. What is left, ie. only items that are not recyclable, can be placed in the small landfill bin. Please do not leave punctured airbeds, broken tents, folding chairs, kites etc. here.
Campfires
For grass pitches, please only use firepits which are off the ground. Safari tent accomodation, please only use the designated campfire places and do not enlarge or alter the position of the designated campfire places. Do not leave your campfire unattended and think carefully about whether or not to light a fire if it is windy. By lighting it you accept full responsibility for it. Press Bars Camping accepts no liability for injury or damage caused by your campfire & reserves the right to refuse the use of a campfire should extremely dry or windy conditions make it unsafe to do so.
Chemical Toilet Disposal
Please be aware that Press Bars Camping does not currently have a CDP facility. Flushing toilets are on site.
Day Visitors
Day visitors are only permitted only by prior agreement. Fees may apply.
Property Loss
Press Bars Camping cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen property. Any lost property found on a pitch or in accommodation will be held for 14 days after contacting the relevant guest, to arrange return postage.
Smoking
All the accommodation and all the undercover facilities are strictly NO SMOKING. If you smoke, do it outside and dispose of your cigarette ends in the campfire or bin.
Dogs
Dogs are permitted for camping only, to avoid potential allergy issues, pets are not permitted in any accommodation or covered communal facilities. Your dog must be on lead at all times and must not run free around the land. Dog poo must be bagged and binned. When walking the paths around the farm your dog must be on a lead. This is because we have sheep, chickens, pigs and some ground nesting birds that we don’t want to disturb. We also ask that when you use the footpath through neighbouring fields that you be respectful of their land and keep your dog on a lead where there is livestock present. All dog breeds listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 are prohibited
Welfare
The campsite toilets & family shower room are unisex. Only toilet paper to be flushed, please use the bins provided for anything else. Miss-use of the facilities or inappropriate behaviour will result in removal from site. The camp kitchen & BBQ are to be used responsibly and with respect. Do not leave food cooking unattended, make sure any appliances are turned off after use & all food waste & rubbish is placed in the bins provided.
The facilities are cleaned regularly but we ask you, the guest, to respect the space & use any cleaning products/cloths provided to help keep it usable.
